Posted in Uncategorized on September 23, 2008 by cothplymouth

On Thursday night at 7 PM, we just finished studying Philippians and have just started Colosians. Different people each week teach or actually moderate the lesson. I have been studying the Bible for almost 30 years and have learned something new each week. The group has gown.

Come and check it out. I think you will like it

The Working of the Holy Spirit

Posted in Uncategorized on September 23, 2008 by cothplymouth

I’m excited about this sermon series; The Holy Who.  In my life, the Holy Spirit brought love and meaning to my life.  He has made my life a real trip.  Jesus truly saved and rescued me but the Holy Spirit through His Gifts and Fruit definitely changed my life and brought my life and marriage closer to the image of Christ.

How about you Heartlanders?  What has the Holy Spirit done for you?

This attack is Over the Top

Is this blasphemous?
Is this blasphemous?

This is a cartoon published in the Washington Post.com by cartoonist Pat Oliphant.  The cartoon to the left show Governor Palin speaking gibberish with McCain saying she is speaking in tongues and only God can understand her.  Then God swears and declares that she is speaking gibberish.

I have seen Christians being persecuted before but this is over the top.  This goes beyond making fun of Christians.  It shows such level of ignorance on the part of the cartoonist.

This would be a direct attack on my faith and believe.  Do they not realize the number of charismatics that this effects.  These attitudes remind me of the 1980’s and early 1990’s.  Even if you don’t believe in speaking in tongues, many realize that it has became mainstream the same as contemporary worship.  Gov. Palin has attended Wasilla Bible Church since 2002.  This is a church similar to Church of the Heartland.

This exposes the thinking of many liberals. While declaring their tolerance and openness to free speech and ideas, they actually are very intolerant of any idea that is not their own.  Christians, what do you think of this?

Experience Church Not-as-Usual.

Posted in Uncategorized on September 3, 2008 by cothplymouth

We are ‘un-believably’ excited to invite you to the ‘UN’ service on September 14th. This will be a chance for you to invite family and friends to experience church not-as-usual.

We pray you will see this as an ‘unmistakable’ evangelistic opportunity and use the enclosed flyers to hang at your work place and mini-flyers to hand out to friends.

If you have been thinking of inviting someone to church, September 14th is your day!! Please remember this day in your personal prayer time and seek God as to who He would have you invite, we know there is someone!!

We encourage you to invite as many people as possible, the chance to double our Sunday attendance is here and more importantly, get more people into the Kingdom!!

September 14th – the UN- service…don’t be ‘uninvolved’…be an ‘unexpected’ blessing to someone!!

What’s an UN-CHURCH?

Posted in Uncategorized on September 3, 2008 by cothplymouth

I’m so excited about the future of Church of the Heartland. What is a Heartland church? What is “One Church, Many Locations”? What’s an UN-CHURCH?  We have combined our resources and leaders in such a way that we can operate with the advantages of a church of 700 while holding the values of a smaller more intimate church. We do sermon series together as one church while each pastor has the ability to present the gospel through his gifting. If one campus, has success in any area, the rest of us benefit.

Our combined efforts have produces awesome youth and children’s camps, leadership training and powerful conferences. Cooperation replaces competition among the churches.

We are Uncompromising, Unconventional, Unusual.

Hurricanes, Politics and the Body of Christ

Posted in Leadership on September 1, 2008 by cothplymouth

The power of hurricane Gustav coming across the Gulf of Mexico is staggering. Hundreds of thousands of people have left everything behind and sought safer ground until the storm passes. Many people’s lives will never be the same. Houses, belongings jobs will be among things that are lost. Gustav will greatly effect many thousands of lives.

The power of the presidency of the United States is also staggering. Iraq as a nation has experienced the power of the United States and will never be the same. Many Iraqis have fled and sought safer ground until their storm passed. Many have and will lose houses, belongings and even lives. The power of the president can and has effected thousands if not millions of lives around the world. We are in the process of choosing a person who will have such power. This will have a staggering effect on thousands of lives if not millions of lives.

Yet hurricanes and Presidents can never have the power that has been given to the Body of Christ. We help people from the power of darkness and despair to hope and victory. No matter what storm or powerful person we encounter, we grow and mature. We experience joy in the middle of challenges. We see by faith the solution and the joy of that solution while in the hurricane’s power.  James in the first chapter of his book in the New Testament says to “count it all joy” when you encounter trials and challenges. It just develops our character and strengthens our faith. I love the awesomeness of the Body of Christ

Jesus and His Church is the most powerful and effective force on the Earth. What do you think of its power?
