Hurricanes, Politics and the Body of Christ

The power of hurricane Gustav coming across the Gulf of Mexico is staggering. Hundreds of thousands of people have left everything behind and sought safer ground until the storm passes. Many people’s lives will never be the same. Houses, belongings jobs will be among things that are lost. Gustav will greatly effect many thousands of lives.

The power of the presidency of the United States is also staggering. Iraq as a nation has experienced the power of the United States and will never be the same. Many Iraqis have fled and sought safer ground until their storm passed. Many have and will lose houses, belongings and even lives. The power of the president can and has effected thousands if not millions of lives around the world. We are in the process of choosing a person who will have such power. This will have a staggering effect on thousands of lives if not millions of lives.

Yet hurricanes and Presidents can never have the power that has been given to the Body of Christ. We help people from the power of darkness and despair to hope and victory. No matter what storm or powerful person we encounter, we grow and mature. We experience joy in the middle of challenges. We see by faith the solution and the joy of that solution while in the hurricane’s power.  James in the first chapter of his book in the New Testament says to “count it all joy” when you encounter trials and challenges. It just develops our character and strengthens our faith. I love the awesomeness of the Body of Christ

Jesus and His Church is the most powerful and effective force on the Earth. What do you think of its power?

The Church does indeed have power, may we soon understand how to use it effectively!

We are commissioned under the King of Kings and the One who seats and unseats those who rule. We bear huge responsibility when we criticize and complain about those in power (whoever they are, whatever level) and we are not lifting them up to the Lord.

The church got hugely stupid when Bill Clinton went into disgrace. THAT was a time to pray! Instead we chewed him up.

What might have happend if the united Church lifted him up to the Lord. Might we have heard a truly repentant heart?

May we start asking the Lord to bring down the ungodly and raise up the righteous, to seat His Judges and Governors, Congressmen and women, to put in place His Leaders in every nation.

The time is too short for finger pointing. None of us are brilliant enough to know every issue on every heart. But our King does. And He can put Presidents and Congressmen in place that will serve Him.
